‘In all things give God the glory
A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept. 11th, 2003 , TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001. His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:
A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said ‘amen,’ we both heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. Both very upset, we drove home. I received a call from my father who was a retired NYPD. He asked what my wife’s flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight. My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. ‘This is not something I can’t just sit by for; I have to do something.’ Continue reading →
A ferry is perched on top of a house in the aftermath of an earthquake and tsunami in Otsuchi, Iwate prefecture March 13, 2011.
A great earthquake of 8.9 hit Japan at about 2-3pm, during their most busy part of the day, yesterday. Reported to last about 5-6 minutes. The buildings were rattling, objects falling off the shelves, people taking cover under their desks, and running for safety areas. Imagining that 5 minutes, though could have gone by pretty fast on a normal working day, it was felt by many like it lasted for ‘a long, long time’ especially when a sense of helplessness creep in. Immediately, after the earthquake stopped, A tsunami alert announced in Sendai, in the North East of Japan. Evacuation was to take place in that city. Sendai holds a population of 1 million people. Most of the residents are farmers and fishermen. Shortly, a reported 24 foot high Tsunami hit Sendai as warned. Tsunami Massive rush of sea water covered over within 50 miles area of Sendai, removing boats, cars, houses as it moved into the inland of Sendai. Hours later, Tsunami warnings issued to several countries, such as Taiwan, Russia, Philippines, Guam, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and Indonesia. Tsunami alerts were later extended to 50 other countries due to the massive 8.9 earthquake earlier. Now what a day!! Continue reading →

Have you notice lately, when you walk up close to a seemingly ‘dead’ and bare tree, you notice tiny shoots appearing from the buds? Do you get excited? You are probably right if you believe spring is well on its way. Spring, I believe is one of my favorite seasons of the year. That means I get to plant my new sunflowers again. For some reason, spring brings along much joy and gladness not just for the adults but also for the children. They get to play outside in spring, after staying indoor for the last 3 months of winter. The adults get to plan their new gardening projects. There is excitement and promises of fun for everyone. Continue reading →
Just last night, I heard a report on the News that Facebook had become the primarily cause of many married couples breaking up, and resulting in 1 out of 5 marriages ended in divorce in United States. For me, connecting with family members and old friends on Facebook became the most exciting ‘hookup’ for me ever since I live in United States.
Being able to connect with my friends from Singapore and South Australia, Adelaide seems like an excellent idea, to stay in touch. This morning as I was further researching on this subject, I came across this article from Tech Journal. The website stated: Continue reading →
What are Tell-Tale Signs? They are warnings that we need to take note. They tell us something is not right. We need help. Take Tell-tale signs positively because if we listen to them and make the changes, our lives will get better.
Inspiration For Today:
Just like a solar-powered digital watch requires sunshine to work , so are we as followers of Jesus Christ. We need God’s light to work well. – E. G. D
Do you feel so exhausted even without doing anything lately? I know I do for the last 2-3 days. Often when we are sick, our bodies fight against the unwelcome bacteria within our bodies to get rid of them, simply because they do not belong there. When our immune system is fighting hard to get rid of the bacteria, it shows through our exterior bodies. Without the immune system, we are dead. God has given me a message this morning. And I hope it would bless you more than anything today.
February 25th – 27th 2011: Coldest snow storm in the Central Valley expected
Snow storm warnings are not uncommon during a winter in the Central Valley and the Foothills valley. What makes this winter different from the rest? We expect snow this weekend, we would experience one of the coldest weekend for the residents of the Central Valley and the Foothills valley. We can expect the temperature to drop from the upper 30s ‘F to the mid 20s ‘F (degree Fahrenheit). With the snow continue to fall on the Sierra mountains down to the predicted 1000 ft level through the night into the early morning, will we see snow or even snow showers in the early morning tomorrow at the Valley floor?
I have had a few significant and unforgettable moments, but there was one in particular, a near death moment in which I was most grateful. It began in 2002.. I had just graduated from my studies in Adelaide, South Australia. I wanted to do something for the Lord, so I joined a group of Christians on an evangelistic bus tour to the Northern Territory for 2 weeks. Among our group, there were several unbelievers with us. We would travel from place to place, slept in our sleeping bags in various venues, making our way to the top end of the NT at Darwin. And then head our way back to Adelaide. Along the way, we organized sketches, dramas, played games, and so forth in attempts to share the Gospel with the unbelievers among us. We were having a great time.
On this occasion, we had to swim as a group along a deep narrow river, which Australians called billabong. Most of the group members could swim except for the little children and me. Naturally, I stayed behind and played at the shallow end of the billabong. Unknowingly, the area where I chose to stay in was the edge of the deep billabong. As I watched the others making their way through the billabong, I was curious. I decided to patter my feet a little a way to see how far I could swim thinking I could step on the ground. When I stopped, my feet could not reach the ground. I panicked and looked through the water.. Discovered I was looking at deep water, 3-4 stories deep. At that moment, I was struggling to breathe. I remembered raising my arm to get attention, just any one close by. Continue reading →
How many of us will truly be honest and claimed the title, “I am a great sinner”? It is true we often believe we are better off than most people. We are good-by nature. Compared to murderers, rapiers, adulterous, robbers, we feel we are good. We deserve being good because we do not cause bodily harm to any one by our actions. Is that true? What about the ‘unseen’ destruction following our selfish decisions? Emotional torment, verbal abuse, the selfish manipulations we deliberately used to get what we want, rejection, destructive remarks? How often we defend or prove them.. to make ourselves feel good? Are we perfect? No, absolutely not! Continue reading →
